ACR Accreditation

screen shotThere are four types of Accreditation available for nuclear imaging centers. Accreditation in nuclear medicine is based on which type of facility your insitution has; all units used by a facility must pass the evaluation in order for a facility to be granted accreditation. The four different Modules offered are:

Module 1 – General Nuclear Medicine (planar imaging)
Module 2 – SPECT (single photon emission computed tomography)
Module 3 – Nuclear Cardiology Imaging
Module 4 – PET/Coincidence Imaging

Although ACR Accreditation is voluntary there are several reason why your facility should consider it. Including; the educationally based evaluation and review of your facility, the documentation of necessary equipment upgrades, as well as training or further education for employees, professsional assessment of the quality of your machines, is good for your institutions credentials, and may be necessary depending on your state or government criteria.
